Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is a fairly sprawling city for its size. For many visitors the center of the city lies in the Golden Triangle, between Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Ampang: this is where most of the city's shopping malls, five-star hotels and trendiest nightspots are, and the Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC) development home to the famous Petronas Twin Towers is at the northern edge. But the traditional core of the city lies more to the south, where Merdeka Square has many of KL's best-preserved colonial buildings and Chinatown bustles with activity late into the night. Further south yet, the suburb of Bangsar is a popular restaurant and clubbing district.

The KL Tower is a 421m high telecommunications and broadcasting tower which actually appears to be taller than the Petronas Towers, because it is built on a hill. Amidst the city of Kuala Lumpur stands the Menara Kuala Lumpur at 515m above sea level.
Menara Kuala Lumpur (officially) stands majestically atop Bukit Nanas (Pineapple Hill) at 421 meters and 94 meters above sea level, is one of the first and perhaps most enduring images a visitor to KL will encounter.

Central Market alias Pasar Seni

The Central Market is situated at the border of China Town. Therefore why wouldn't you combine a visit to the Central Market with a visit to China Town? It's old building (1928), that has won awards for its architectural design. In this air-conditioned market you can find many souvenirs. It's a haven for tourists, where you can buy arts, handicrafts, batik, traditional wear etc.

The best place is eating in Jalan Alor. Formerly known as the Red light district of KL. The area has since undergone a number of facelifts, and the hosts now cater more to delight the gastronomical passions of its patrons. The stalls are parked all along the street. It is quite an overwhelming experience for the first timers, who may have some difficulty on deciding where to eat. Jalan Alor Jalan Bukit Bintang, one short walk away from the modern shopper’s paradise of the BB Walk and its many malls and plazas.

Jalan Alor di Bukit Bintang, tempat aneka makanan enak

The Jalan Alor area is relatively dead during the day, but when the sun goes down it gets a complete makeover.
Once preceded by its seedy history (indeed, remnants remain in the form of hourly-rate hotels), elevated itself, and is now known for its extravaganza sights, tastes, and smells.

Ride Eye on Malaysia di Taman Tasik Titiwangsa
